Job description

We are opening two Staff Software Engineer positions to strengthen a technology team working on scalable, reliable, and production-ready software solutions. The role is predominantly backend-oriented, while requiring the ability to contribute across the technology stack when needed. The position offers broad ownership across the software lifecycle, from defining technical solutions through development, deployment, and production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of significant engineering initiatives from initial problem definition and architecture through implementation, deployment, and ongoing production support.

  • Design and develop scalable, maintainable, and robust software solutions, primarily on the backend while contributing to frontend development when required.

  • Work closely with Product and technical stakeholders to understand business needs, challenge assumptions constructively, and determine pragmatic technical approaches.

  • Build and operate cloud-based solutions, including infrastructure management, deployment automation, and CI/CD processes.

  • Design and optimize relational data solutions as well as asynchronous, event-driven architectures, messaging workflows, and Change Data Capture mechanisms.

  • Ensure production systems meet high standards for reliability, performance, security, testing, monitoring, and observability.

  • Investigate complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.

  • Contribute to technical leadership by mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, sharing knowledge, improving engineering practices, and promoting effective use of AI-assisted development tools.

Job requirements

  • Advanced expertise in at least one compiled programming language, with strong experience in Go or comparable expertise in Java, Scala, C++, or another equivalent language.

  • Solid scripting and automation capabilities, with practical experience using technologies such as Python, Bash, or Ruby.

  • Ability to work across the technology stack, including making changes to TypeScript-based Angular or React applications when necessary.

  • Expert knowledge of relational databases, including data modelling, SQL, transactions, indexing, query optimization, concurrency, and database architecture; PostgreSQL experience is particularly relevant.

  • Strong experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform, as well as production infrastructure management.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation, particularly using GitHub Actions.

  • Experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting event-driven and asynchronous systems, including messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ and CDC-based architectures.

  • Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, testing strategies, observability, debugging, maintainability, and production operations, combined with sound engineering judgment and the ability to use AI-assisted development tools responsibly.
