Playwright Test Automation Engineer

Job description

We are opening a position for a Playwright Test Automation Engineer to strengthen the team of our client based in Zurich. The role is part of a complex web application environment in an academic context, with a strong focus on software quality and sustainable test automation practices.

Job responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve automated testing approaches for modern web applications

  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scenarios using Playwright, integrated into CI/CD pipelines

  • Work closely with development teams, test management, and business stakeholders

  • Ensure robustness, maintainability, and stability of automated test suites

  • Define and implement effective test data management and isolation strategies

  • Analyze test results and actively contribute to defect identification and resolution

  • Participate in project ceremonies and represent testing activities in cross-functional meetings

Job requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in automated testing of web applications and APIs

  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and solid knowledge of TypeScript

  • Experience working with CI/CD environments (e.g. GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)

  • Good understanding of test design principles (E2E, integration testing, test pyramid)

  • Ability to design scalable and maintainable test architectures

  • Basic experience with API testing (REST, JSON, mocking)

  • Structured approach to test documentation and analysis

  • Team-oriented mindset, autonomy, and strong delivery focus
