Database Reliability Engineer

Job description

We are opening a position for a Database Reliability Engineer to strengthen a digital operations team based in Geneva. The role serves as the main technical reference point for database topics across a complex application landscape, working closely with cloud infrastructure teams to ensure stability and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary expert for database-related technical matters within the application ecosystem

  • Collaborate with cloud infrastructure specialists on database lifecycle activities (deployment, upgrades, patching)

  • Design and maintain database environments in modern platforms, including container-based solutions

  • Implement automation processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual interventions

  • Monitor database performance and ensure optimal availability and reliability

  • Conduct audits and proactively identify areas for improvement

  • Troubleshoot incidents and resolve complex database issues

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across multiple database technologies

Job requirements

  • Proven experience in database administration or reliability engineering roles

  • Strong knowledge of several database systems such as MongoDB, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, CouchDB, Redis or Kafka

  • Solid understanding of cloud environments and containerized infrastructures (e.g., Kubernetes/OpenShift)

  • Experience with automation and scripting tools

  • Ability to manage database lifecycle processes including upgrades and patching

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in production environments

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and performance tuning

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional teams
