Job description

We are opening a position for a Requirement and Test Automation Engineer to strengthen a team working on a complex, safety-critical software environment. The role combines requirements engineering, technical documentation, system testing, and test automation within an Agile development framework.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyse business and end-user needs and translate them into clear and structured functional and system requirements.

  • Review applicable regulations, quality standards, and safety constraints to ensure that software deliverables meet the required compliance levels.

  • Develop, review, maintain, and trace system requirements throughout the different levels of the product architecture.

  • Design and maintain test cases that ensure adequate coverage of both system and component requirements.

  • Develop and maintain automated testing solutions, primarily using Python, with additional exposure to Java, JUnit-based frameworks, and Gherkin.

  • Execute manual and automated tests, document the outcomes, and maintain test records in the relevant test management systems.

  • Investigate software defects, document issues in JIRA, and contribute to root-cause analysis and resolution activities.

  • Participate in formal system validation activities, including Factory Acceptance Testing, while working closely with end users and multidisciplinary teams.

Job requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a safety-critical environment, ideally involving mission-critical software systems.

  • Solid background in software requirements engineering, technical documentation, system testing, and test case development.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, combined with a structured, rigorous, and detail-oriented approach.

  • Proven experience with test automation using Python; knowledge of Java, JUnit, and/or Gherkin is considered a strong advantage.

  • High level of autonomy, adaptability, organisation, and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team and under pressure.

  • Familiarity with real-time, security-critical, or air traffic management systems, as well as standards such as ESARR6/EC482, ED153, IEC 61508, or ISO 12207, is an advantage.

  • Excellent written and spoken English is required.
